Pit Bulls Come in #2 as Friendliest Breed

Pit Bull is Officially the Second Friendliest Breed

In volunteering with the dogs at the Huntington Town Shelter (NY), I meet a lot of pit bulls and pit mixes (and dogs mislabeled as bully breeds). The friendliest dogs are most definitely the pits. The breed has always been known for their loyalty and devotion to their human family. They were the "nanny" dogs who minded the kids. Petey from the Little Rascals, the Buster Brown dog and the bull terrier from the Target ads - all considered part of the "pit bull" category. Notice, they are also terriers... that's right.. part of the group that includes Yorkshire Terriers, West Highland White Terriers, Scottish Terriers, Irish Terriers, Kerry Blue Terriers, Skye Terriers, Boston Terriers, Jack Russell Terriers, Rat Terriers, Airedale Terriers, Norwich Terriers, Silk Terriers, Norfolk Terriers and so many more.

It's always good to see articles proving how great these dogs are. I'd like to suggest that we not judge a dog by its breed but by the content of its heart. Most dogs have huge hearts and love people ... regardless of their breed.

Please post your comments on this article and the topic in general. I'd love to hear what you think.

First Blog Post

I'm far from an Internet novice but for some reason I have spent over 20 years relying on word of mouth for my pet care business. Time for me to get into the groove. Besides, after animals, writing is a favorite activity.

My goal in creating this blog is not to spend a lot of time marketing my business (although I'm always happy to welcome new clients). My goal is to help bring more information to others about pets, pet care, animal rescue and all things related to animals.

Join me on my adventure. Participate with me.
